Crack the Foundation is a relatively new band consisting of Doug Littlejohn (bass), Dave Saunders (guitar), Matt Martin (drums), Rob Peyton (guitar/vocals) and Chris Newell (lead vocals). The group originally formed in the summer of 2009 before the addition of a new lead guitarist and lead singer to solidify the current line-up this past spring. When asked about the group’s influences Doug Littlejohn replies “Our lyrics are primarily driven by mixture of world history and video games, particularly World War II. As for our musical style…we play mainly hard rock with a touch of heavy metal inspired by bands ranging from Foo Fighters to Pantera.” Although Crack the Foundation is currently based out of St. John’s, it’s members come from all over the island including St. Phillip’s, Grand Falls, Random Island and Botwood. The band has recently released a demo entitled Spoils of War which was recorded in Doug Littlejohn’s house in a fully functional recording studio which he built to facilitate the bands needs. The demo was also engineered, mixed and mastered by Doug and the band collectively had a share in burning and assembling the demo packages.
