Tara Slone
A classically trained singer, Tara Slone, 31, is one of two contestants from Toronto, Ontario, Canada.
She studied theatre at Concordia University in Montreal, then moved
to Toronto to pursue music. Her stage style is often compared to
Chrissie Hynde and Pat Benatar.
Her former band, Joydrop, released
two CDs, had a radio hit, "Beautiful," and ended up signed to Tommy
Boy Records and made a video with Tommy Lee. She’s also appeared in several minor acting roles including
a recurring role as "Gail" on La Femme Nikita. Her first solo album
is nearly ready for release.
A Shambhala Buddhist, Slone describes the
casting process for the show as
"intense" in her hometown paper,
The Daily News. “Singing INXS songs for INXS, that’s pretty
stressful — a taste of things to come, I guess,” she says. “The
competition was fierce. We’re dealing with really high-caliber
performers.”
