Jill Gioia

This gritty, pretty, super soulful rock singer from New York brings a biting edge to music that makes people sit up and take notice. Jill Gioia (Joy-a) has opened for Third Eye Blind at the Hard Rock in Las Vegas. She's performed with Third Eye Blind on David Letterman and at the GQ Men of the Year Award Show. She has also recently opened for 98 Degrees, Jeffery Gaines, B-52's, Nine Days, Dee Snider, Berlin, The Alarm, and Greg Raposo.

Her lyrical bite and musical style blends current pop edginess with genuine rock. Goodtimes wrote, "Jill Gioia is the package: pop good looks, toe-tapping tunes, take notice lyrics and an angelic voice that ranges from celestial to guttural and sometimes, impossibly both. Stylistically, she's in quite famous company...visual lyrics, very catchy and definitely chart material."

In June 2006 she told ROCKBANDLOUNGE.COM, "It’s so hard for me to analyze or explain what I write about because it comes from so many different places and so many different experiences. I don’t know what necessarily triggers a melody? Usually how I write is I carry my little tape recorder, and I’m driving in the car and I get a melody. Usually it’s when I’m most busy and things are hectic! It’s kind of something that interferes, and comes out and gets in the way. For me, it’s usually melody first, and then lyrics and it evolves into something, a song."

A member of Screen Actors Guild (SAG) since she was a child, Jill has appeared on such TV shows as "Law & Order S.V.U.", "Sex and The City" and "The Sopranos". She regularly does charity work for Musicians On Call at Sloan Kettering Hospital.
